BIOBUILD: Innovative bio-based building materials with thermal energy storage function

Call: HORIZON-CL6-2023-CIRCBIO-01

BIOBUILD is paving the way towards green buildings with improved thermal performance. The project focuses on bio-composites as environmentally friendly building materials with additional functionalities for energy storage. This innovative approach will integrate Phase Change Material (bioPCMs) into solid wood and fibers bound together by plant oil resins, lignin and fungal mycelium. The BIOBUILD project will design and showcase protype wooden houses with innovative wallboards and parquet in Sweden and Spain. It will additionally evaluate energy saving performance and recyclability options.
