ISSDEMO: Industrial process Steam Supply – DEMOnstration of an ultra-dynamic thermal energy storage
Call: CET-Partnership JOINT CALL 2022
The main objective of this project is to demonstrate the efficiency and functionality of a thermal energy storage device designed for high-temperature applications, specifically between 250 °C and 500 °C. This device will be used for the production of process steam for various industrial applications. The project aims to progress the technology from TRL 5 to TRL 7. The specific outcomes include implementing and demonstrating the technology in an industrial process steam application with a capacity of approximately 1 MWh. Additionally, the unit will need to operate for at least 300 cycles, totalling a minimum of 1,000 operational hours.

This research was funded by CETPartnership, the Clean Energy Transition Partnership is a transnational joint programming initiative to boost and accelerate the energy transition, building upon regional and national RDI funding programmes. The initiative is receiving funding from the European Union’s research and innovation programme “Horizon Europe” under grant agreement No 101069750.
